December Blues and A Giveaway

earrings c/o // sweater // button-up // skirt: J.Crew; old (option ) // pumps: Vince Camuto; old (love these ) // clutch: Hobo; old (option )

Happy Hump Day!

If you are following me on Twitter or Facebook you may have heard my terrible, horrible, no good news.  After adding the last ornament to the tree {which, when you're a perfectionist is a minimum 3 hour task} the tree toppled over on the floor, shattering ornaments and my Christmas dreams.  After the hubby and I got the tree upright and swept up the mess, ALL of the lights went out on the tree.  ALL OF THEM.  Enter full-blown panic attack.  Long-story short, tree is back up and glowing, but I am scarred for life.

Tips for you:  do not try to put all of the ornaments on the front of the tree, trust your husband when he tells you the tree stand is too small; just laugh to keep from crying.

Today I wanted to show you one of my recent causal work outfits.  I love the unexpected pairing of blues in this look.  I have seriously had this J.Crew skirt since 2004 and I still love it.  I am a true clothes hoarder.  And because leopard shoes match everything, I decided to pair them with the critter skirt.  With the Holidays just around the corner I am craving all things sparkly.  These earrings from Ask The Jewelry Lady  add just enough sparkle to this casual work outfit.  And guess what?!?  You can enter to win your own sparkly gem from Ask The Jewelry Lady!!  Just follow the directions of the Rafflecopter below.  Giveaway ends 12/10.

Good Luck and thanks for reading!  Linkups are under the Rafflecopter!

Cheater Code

dress: Judith March; old (similar ) // Frye booties // burgundy faux fur snood: TJ Maxx (similar ) // gold mesh ring // wire bangles c/o // tassel bracelets c/o

Happy Tuesday!

I think everyone has those go-to outfits for days when you don't feel well, can't get yourself together, are too lazy or late to put something together, or just plain don't care.  For some of you it's probably your favorite leggings or jeans.  For me, it is a cute dress and my cowgirl boots.  I don't know if it's because I'm a true Southern girl or if it is a comfort thing, but this combo is my dresscode for "cheater days."

Judith March dresses are ideal for these kind of days.  They are functional and comfy but the prints and cuts adds interest to the outfit.  I think these low-cut Frye booties are a little more unique than your typical cowgirl boot.  Just throw on some jewels and a scarf {or in this case a faux-fur snood} and you're set.

Happy Monday!

I hope you all shopped your little hearts out during Black Friday and Shop Local Saturday.  This post is full of small business pieces.  I hope you really showed some of them love this year with your Christmas shopping.  And, if you still haven't gotten your fill, don't forget today is Cyber Monday!  If you checked out Instagram yesterday you noticed that the hubby and I went Christmas tree shopping.  Shewl.  What a day.  We ended up going to 5 different tree lots for a total of 4 hours, and finally found the perfect tree on the first lot closest to our house.  Needless to say the husband was not in the Christmas spirit by the time we got home.

Unless you have been avoiding social media {then I guess you wouldn't be reading this} you know tassels are big this year.  Some of my favorites have been featured on the blog already and seem to make my #ootd in either necklace, bracelet or keychain form.  Today I wanted to show you another new favorite from Cadorah .  I love the pop of turquoise from the stone and the gradient chain.  I really love that it's another small business from Etsy.  Cadorah offers so many unique pieces that would be perfect to wrap-up for a special friend or family member this year.  As fashionistas, you all know it's nice to gift your friends with pieces that will keep them trendy this year.

Another favorite piece right now is this Umgee cropped moto jacket.  I wore this in a charity fashion show the other weekend for one of my local boutiques and of course it had to come home with me.  I chose to pair it with cobalt, one of the biggest colors of the year and kept the look edgy with these fun booties.

November Favorites & A $620 Cash Giveaway

I cannot believe it is already December 1st!  This year has definitely flown by for me.  It feels like just last week I was making {and breaking} New Years resolutions.  These are a few of my favorites looks from the month of November, and my first month of blogging!  Thanks for sticking with me.  I hope there will be many more to come!

Today is the day the hubby and I start transforming our house into a winter wonderland.  Growing up, my mom always went crazy with Christmas decorations.  She truly is a mini Martha Stewart.  We had a village, a nativity complete with real moss and sand, handmade swags on the mantle and staircase, handmade wreaths and 5, yes 5, Christmas trees.  I am not nearly as patient or creative as she is, but I love to pretend like I am.  Since my parents are in Ohio now and come here for Christmas, it's nice to make my home feel festive and reminiscent.

Christmas is also the season for giving!  I have teamed up with Ashley Brooke and 20 other blogging beauties to give you the chance to win $620 Paypal cash.  Just imagine the Christmas goodies you could buy!  Just enter the Rafflecopter below, and make sure to checkout the pages of the other lovely ladies!  The Giveaway starts today and will run for 2 weeks!

Good Luck and Happy December!
