Revenge of the OTKs

Happy Friday Eve!

The over the knee boots are back!  I was BEyond excited to pull these out of the closet for another year!  They add instant sass to a flirty look, or paired with leather leggings and a sweater can look suuuper chic!  They are definitely on my must-have list again this year!

I am also going to be all over this scoop neck crop top from 1802!  I may have just added 6 skirts to my Forever 21 cart just so I can wear it day after day!  And at only $15, it won't break the bank!

Graphic Response

Happy Tuesday, fashionistas!

I Heart NY.  Really.  What fashion-loving female doesn't.  The original 'I Heart NY' logo was created by Milton Glaser in 1977 as a rip-off of a Canadian marketing campaign, 'Montreal, the city with a Heart.' {pst- don't worry, I'm not a history buff.  I just know where Wikipedia lives.}  The iconic t-shirts, hats, beanies and sweats can be found on every street corner of the Big Apple now.

Making the logo arguably hipper, 3.1 Phillip Lim ripped the logo last year to read I heart Nueva York with an ironic upside-down heart.  The tank was seen on countless bloggers and celebrities, from Nicky Hilton to Julie Sarinana . So of course this version came home with me when I spied it at T.J. Maxx last October... for $5.  My tank may be a dupe of the Phillip Lim version, but the 1977 original logo was in-fact a dupe of a Canadian one.  Pretty neat, aye?

Ok, Ok, history lesson over.  I really didn't mean to untangle roots of fashion history and how it trickles down into the style of the masses.  BUT I did want to show you my look-for-less (I promised you 5 items under a Jackson this week) as well as how I wore my graphic tank to work.  I topped it with this gorgeous printed blazer to give the look structure and professionalism, and added pops of color in my booties and clutch.  Being in the 9-5 corporate, it's hard to balance looking like a profesh and a fashionista.  Investing in pieces like this printed blazer make it acceptable to rock my $5 tee. If you can't wear denim to work,  you could easily swap the skinnies for a skater skirt or pair of chic black trousers.  Most days it's not in the dress-code for me, but this was a rare denim-friendly day.  I ALWAYS take advantage of those!

I would love to hear your tips and tricks for pushing the boundaries at work!

Thanks for reading!  I promise I won't let my nerd-flag fly tomorrow.  Go crush your Tuesday.  Linkups below
